Xenia Trainer as Subject Matter Expert to Microsoft

Redmond, WA, September 29, 2003– One of XENIA’s technical trainers, Jim Robertson, has just returned from Microsoft Corporation where he was invited to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one of their latest projects. Jim worked from the beginning stages of creating one of Microsoft’s newest security exams, “Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network”, exam 70-299, due to be offered in beta to a select audience beginning sometime in December 2003. After the beta deliveries, the exam will be offered to the public. “What a privilege in being asked to work with Microsoft Training and Certification [a division of Microsoft Corporation]. I had the opportunity to work with some of the people that make the Microsoft Certified Professional Program great! Microsoft invited six security experts from around the world to participate in this project. I felt honored in being one of them.” said Robertson. Some of Jim’s duties on the project included content review and technical editing to ensure that the new exam is technically accurate and relevant to real-world scenarios. “I feel impressed seeing where Microsoft is going with the certification programs now. I also have a new perspective on the exams, themselves. I hope by making the exams more relevant to what an IT professional should be capable of doing will put more value in obtaining an IT certification from Microsoft.”

Other recent projects Jim worked on for Microsoft include serving as a technical reviewer for a new security course soon to be offered, Course 2823: Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network. “This course is a preparation course for the new security exam, 70-299.” Robertson said. Jim also worked as an SME and Trainer Facilitator for the new workshops, “2209 - Expert Track: Updating Systems Administrator Skills from Microsoft Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003” and “2210 - Expert Track: Updating Systems Engineer Skills from Microsoft Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003.” Jim also said, “Both of these new and exciting workshops allow the student to test and try their skills at performing administration and engineering tasks. The students aren’t lead by “step-by-step” instructions to get through their labs as in previous courses. They apply their knowledge and technical resources that are available to them, as they would in the real-world.” The 2209 workshop prepares a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Windows 2000 to take the 70-292 exam to upgrade their certification to MCSA 2003. The 2210 workshop prepares a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows 2000 to take the 70-296 exam to upgrade their certification to MCSE 2003. The MCSE candidate must take and pass both exams to upgrade their certification to MCSE 2003.
